The contest is scheduled from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm (sunrise 6:30) on Saturday, September 20, 2014. This annual event, in conjunction with the Bethel Harvest Festival weekend is headquartered at The Bethel Inn Resort. Click here for a complete schedule of events, rules and entry form.
Rain or shine. Boats may not be launched or placed in the water before 5 am, Saturday, Sept.20. A team consists of two anglers and an oarsman. Fishing from drift boat or raft only. No wade fishing. Anglers will be fishing for three species of trout-brown, brook and rainbow. Small mouth, fall fish (chub) or any other species will not be accepted. Teams are responsible for their Maine and/or NH State Fishing Licenses, cameras and digital images. An 18” ruler device, fish cards, and box lunch will be offered. Prizes will be presented to the first, second and third place anglers with the biggest fish, greatest number of fish. The oarsman may fish for pleasure only. The oarsman’s name and team will be engraved on The Rocky Freda Turtle Water Perpetual Trophy for the team with the greatest number of fish caught. The Maineflyfish.com Trophy will be presented to the angler with the largest chub.
2014 Upper Andro Drift Boat Competition and 2-Fly Contest Schedule of EventsFriday, September 19
6 am – 2 pm: Welcome to fish and “scout” the river
The Drift Boat Championship will begin at 3 pm, Friday, September 19 at Bethel Outdoor Adventures & Campground on Route 2 by the Route 2 highway bridge. Entrants must have boats in line at BOA by 2:30 at which time a captains’ meeting will be held. The 1/4 mile course finishing at Davis Park will test the oarsman’s rowing speed and navigation ability. A passenger must remain standing in the bow throughout the contest. Trailers may be shuttled to Davis Park for take-out. The First, second, and third place oarsman will receive plaques and a cash prize of $150 for First Place, $100 for Second Place and $50 for Third Place.

Route 2, place boat in water along river bank
2:30 pm: Captains’ meeting and running order draw
3 – 4 pm: Drift Boat Competition at Bethel Outdoor Adventure to Davis Park – ¼ mile
5pm: Social Hour The Millbrook Tavern-The Bethel Inn Resort
6- 7pm BBQ – Team Dinner in the South Dining Room at The Bethel Inn Resort
7pm Competitors Meeting-South Dining Room
Teams must declare their flies. Payment and registration must be received by September 10 to enter contest and attend meeting
